Media Journal Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words - 3

Media Journal - Essay Example New details were recently uncovered with relations to the phone hacking scandals that involved Rupert Murdoch’s papers. The revealed evidence contained names of those involved in the illegal acts plus the lawmakers behind hack. A panel consisting of British Parliamentary members recently stated that Mr. Murdoch was not the right person to steer an international media company. Investors who have been weary of his control over the company took the report as evidence that leadership change was imminent. The reports have led officials to start speculating on the effect of those remarks to corporations broadcast licensing. A team of reporters who accompanied Mr. Romney report the changes that have started taking place in preparations for the general elections. Some of the changes include the arrival of the secret service, waning of access and course, the buffer between them and the candidates have become common (Kleinfield & Peters 23-25). Judicial inquiry has been on the case of British newspapers over the recent past trying to get answers on questions between Murdoch and his son James. Besides the judicial, book reviews have covered the relations of Murdoch and his son in connection with the accusations of phone hacking (Burns 14-15). The immediate issue over the recent past has built around the revelation of the connection between Jeremy Hunt and a lobbyist for Mr. Rupert. Mr. Cameron now wants, according to the reports, the ties verified. A profession at the media limelight has now become victim of the same media. This are reports from China, where several consultations with the editors and media owners gave a hint of how propaganda has really gotten the best of its own machinery at a time of very high political tension (Parker 2-4). Please answer each one with a short papragraph Assignment

Please answer each one with a short papragraph - Assignment Example From the Colleen Barrett speech, one learns that as a leader a manager should look after his or her employees. The employees’ needs and problems are also the leader’s concern. A leader should be patient and understanding towards the employees. As a leader, the best way to implement servant leadership is through empathy. The manager should learn to understand what the employee goes through and provide them with support both physically and psychologically. Dr. Clayton Christensen gave three questions, which a student should ask himself or herself while planning to start a career. First, how can a student be sure he or she will be happy with the chosen career? Second, how can one know that his or her relationship with both the spouse and family become an enduring source of joy? Finally, how can a person be sure he or she will stay out of prison? Dr. Clayton Christensen’s personal questions enable one to evaluate him or herself based on career choice, relationships and moral values. Based on careers self evaluation, the advice ensures identification of the best career, which is also satisfactory. His recommendations also assist in analysing and knowing how to deal with human relationships especially between spouses and family. The last advice rules assists in straightening moral values. Economics of Labor Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words

Economics of Labor - Essay Example Strikes can also divide the workforce of a given organization into two factions thus reducing their ability to work as a team towards common organizational objectives. In the event that a strike is organized and some of the workers do not co-operate due to the fear of consequences that may follow, an enmity is created between these two groups of workers. The arising element of distrust will hinder future collective bargaining by the employees resulting in poorer working conditions. It is thus important to note that an effective management of a given organization or government department requires the development of good relations between all the stakeholders of an organization. The employees of the organizations need to have a union that advocates for theirs. The union acts as a link to the authority that ensures a formal procedure in addressing the issues. The employees should be loyal to the union and abide by its provisions. Besides, the management principles as defined in economic s require that the managers give room to the needs of the employees of the organization, and this is the key to effective management. The managers should address the issues as they are raised by the worker's unions to avoid the future negative reactions by the employees. On the other hand, the employees need to adopt the organizational cultures that require the formal solution of arising issues. The fact that all these fail to take place and a strike are witnessed means an irresponsible behavior by either the management or the employees.... The educators calling for a salary increase can simply decide to put pens and chalks down while going to the learning institutions as usual or they may intensify it and take to streets. The nurses in public hospital may decide to boycott their duty to attend to patience. Alternatively, an authoritarian manager of an organization can be forcefully evicted out of office by the angry employees. The effects of such strikes are adverse on the economic development of a given region (Addison & Teixeira, 2006, p.4). Common causes of strikes There are different factors that often lead to strikes by employees in a given organization. The strikes by the workers through the unions are geared towards streamlining the monopoly that might be exercised by the management of organizations. Achieving this requires a union made of leaders with the capability of managing teams and can deal with various emerging issues (Griffin & Stacey, 2005, p.29). One common cause of strike is poor working conditions a t the work places coupled with a lot of workload leading to job depression and stress. The employees often complain of long working hours and workload imposed on them probably due to understaffing. This is followed by a pressure from the management to meet strict deadline leading to job stress. Related to the poor working conditions is the cry for salary and wages that are proportional to the tasks that are carried out by the employees. This, however, takes different directions depending on who determines the wages of the employees (Addison & Teixeira, 2006, p.5). The employees often complain that despite the long working hours and the heavy workloads, they are not provided with remunerations

Decersion Escolar En Mexico

Comparing Societies Weakness from the Perspective of Two Authors :: Compare Contrast Comparison

Comparing Societies Weakness from the Perspective of Two Authors Carol Travis and Ellen Goodman are both writers from different backgrounds with different experiences, but they share a common opinion. Both writers find a weakness with in our society. In the article In Groups We Shrink From Loner’s Heroics Travis expresses his views on societies weakness. He believes our weakness lies in the lack of emergency response in groups. In the article Countering the Culture of Sex Goodman feels the weakness is lack of sexual education given to teenagers. Though they both have different opinions, they represent a strong case for both sides. In Carol Tavris’ article, In Groups We Shrink From Loner’s Heroics, there is information about a social concern. Tavris feels that society does not respond to emergencies the same in groups as they do individually. â€Å"Something happens to individuals when they collect in a group. They think and act differently than they would on their own. Most people, if they observe some disaster or danger on their own – a woman being stabbed, a pedestrian slammed by a it-and-run driver – will at least call for help; many will even risk their own safety to intervene. But if they are in a group observing the same danger, they hold back.† (Tavris, 17) Even though people were put through, identical test the ones who were in the group atmosphere did not respond as much as the people who where alone. â€Å"In one experiment in behavioral psychology, students were seated in a room, either alone, or in-groups of three, as staged an emergency occurred: Smoke began pou ring through the vents. Students who were on there own usually hesitated a minute, got up, checked the vents and then went out to report what certainly seemed like a fire. But the students who were sitting in groups of three did not move. They sat there for six minutes, with smoke so thick they could barely see, rubbing their eyes and coughing.† (Tavris, 18) Travis uses famous example such as Rodney King, who was beaten by 4 police officers while in front of 11 other officers, and Kitty Genovese, who was repediatly stabbed to death in front of her 38 neighbors. Tavris believes that people should be more responsive in groups then they currently are. Ellen Goodman’s article, Countering the Culture of Sex, is an article that describes a different perspective of societal flaw.

Three Miles North Of Marianna

Three miles north of Marina, Florida Caverns State park offers more outdoor recreational opportunities than any other place I know of in Florida. What other spot do you know that has hiking, biking, camping, picnicking, horseback riding, cannoning, kayaking on rapids, boating, fishing birdwatchers, golfing, spring hunting, and, of course, spelunking? It is the caverns that give the state park its name. Created during the Depression as a ICC project, the 1,300-acre park is honeycombed with caves large and small. This urn-Florida- like geological feature is the result of Florist's limestone base bumping the ail end of the uplift that becomes the Appalachians. And while the caves here do not match Mammoth Cave or Carlsbad Caverns, they nonetheless have an impressive array of stalagmites, stalactites, columns, flowstone, and other formations created over thousands Of years by the steady drip Of water. One large cave may be visited on guided tours. The tour takes about 25 minutes, and the cavern is a constant temperature of 59 degrees.Native Americans once used the caves for shelter and storage, and their history is told in the park's informative museum. The rest of the caves are off limits or even gated to protect fragile formations and colonies of endangered gray bats. These shy insect-eating creatures are easily disturbed, but warmly welcomed by campers for the tons of mosquitoes they eat. Bats and insects are not the only residents in the park, which is a safe haven for alligators, deer, and beaver as well as home for a rich variety of birds, fish, and other wildlife. Some have claimed sightings of the ivory-billed woodpecker in the area, although such are not confirmed and most believe this largest of all woodpeckers is now extinct. But if the ivory-billed survived anywhere, it might be in these rich floodplains. Gigantic beech, magnolia, sweet gum, and oak trees shade the lowland areas, and the understood flowers all year long with everything from columbine, nat ive azalea, and sage to leafless, bottlers, and the lovely January-blooming topmasts lily. The river floodplain trail is the best way to see the many faces of the area. In 30 minutes, you will go through natural tunnels, climb boulders, see virgin forest and some of the largest trees in the state, and be able to peek into several caves. The horse trails may also be hiked and loop along spring runs and through deep forest. Riders must provide their own horses. The Chipolata River bisects the park from north to south and is joined within it by two spring runs.In the middle of the park, the river dips below ground for more than 1,000 yards before reappearing. A century ago, a channel was cut across the natural bridge so logs could be floated downstream. The ditch is narrow, fast, obstructed, and not recommended for the inexperienced paddled. Fed by rainwater and springs, the Chipolata can be very clear and is an easy paddle stream or down. Alligators bask in the few sunny spots, discour aging river swimming. Even so, there is a great spring group about a mile upstream of the boat ramp.Called Bezel, the main spring has a clear shallow run from the east and leads to a lovely spring pool that strongly invites a dip, even a skinny dip when no one is around. Three more springs line the banks just below and above Bezel, and the park is a popular pull-out for overnight and weekend cancers. The official swimming area is yet another spring called Blue Hole. The spring forms three pools, one of which has a nice beach and dive littoral. The water in the main spring is a deep, milky blue and its 68 degrees are very refreshing on a hot summer day.The Florida Caverns Golf Course is adjacent to the park and is a separate concession. Park fees are $3. 25 per car, and there are additional, if reasonable, charges for cavern tours, canoe rentals, camping, horseback riding, and golfing. The cavern tours are very popular, so call ahead if you plan a weekend visit. Development is increa sing around the park, but once inside you can explore the glories of natural Florida in greater variety than just about anaphora.

Friends Definition Essay Essay

The word friend is a very familiar word among people. Some people take friends as being an advantage or others may take it as being a disadvantage. Most friendships start off on the right path, but some can end up for the worst. This leads to a friendship heading down a path of destruction. Three main reasons why two people cease being friends are losing interests in common, jealousy, and having negative influences. The first reason why two people may cease being friends is losing interests in common. Having interests between two friends can maintain a friendship. When they cease having similar interests, their friendship breaks apart. Losing interests between the two friends can cause them to quit speaking to each other then causes the bond of communication to break down between friends. Also, not sharing the same values and beliefs can cause a friendship to come apart. The second reason why two people stop being friends is jealousy. One may be jealous of the special treatment that the other friend receives. From the outside looking in, one friend may always seem to get their way, which may cause jealousy between the two. Another situation may involve one of the friends getting more attention than the other, which may cause the other friend to less important than what they already are. Also, for each friend not to be or act like themself can cause problems as well. Imitating a friend in the way that they may act or speak can cause major issues because the other friend may feel like they need to be just like their friend in order to have attention instead of just being themselves. The use of rude comments can come into play too because using derogatory words can put another friend down and lower their self-esteem. This can cause the two friends to stray away from each other. The last reason why two people cease being friends is being bad influences on each other. Not being a role model for a friend can definitely play a major part for two friends to cease their friendship. For example, using foul language and staying in trouble with the law all the time can be reasons why a friend may call off a friendship. Also, their friend may lead him or her down the wrong path. Introducing the friends to drugs and alcohol can make their friendship be a negative influence.

Edward Bach (1886-1936) was not a hypnotherapist and so his work is not well know in some hypnotherapy circles. Nevertheless, his philosophy is consistent with that of modern hypnotherapy and we have found that the flower remedies that he developed provide an excellent adjunct to hypnotherapy. Dr. Bach entered medical school in London in 1906 at the age of 20 and graduated five years later. He practiced conventional medicine from 1912 until 1919 when he joint the staff of the London Homeopathic Hospital as a pathologist and bacteriologist. Impressed with the work of Hahnemann, the father of homeopathic medicine, he developed seven nosodes from the seven types of bacteria that he had associated with chronic illness. At the same time he noted that patients with the seven different types of intestinal bacterial pathogens exhibited particular personality types or temperaments. He began to prescribe his nosodes solely by observing the patients’ personality types and temperaments. Bach did not like using pathogen-based nosodes and began to use herbs and plants in place of intestinal bacteria in homeopathic remedies. After using flowers as the basis for developing several homeopathic remedies he sold his medical practice and in 1930, at the age of 43, he left London for the English countryside. Over the course of the next six years he developed 38 flower remedies (discussed below) and the more well know Rescue Remedy. Dr. Bach died at the age of 50 in 1936.
